Engine Power Battlestar 1963 Ford Galaxie Completer Combos
Engine Power’s Pat Topolinski bought a solid 1963 Ford Galaxie 2-door post at the 2007 U.S. Nationals. It came with a 260 cu. in. small block tied to a 3-speed column shift transmission. It took 10 years, but Pat and his Engine Power co-host Mike Galley turned the volume up past 11 by upgrading the big metal beast to handle Black and Blue, the 806 hp, turbocharged 347 Ford that the duo built in 2016.
It takes a lot of parts to build a Battlestar. For example, the stock mechanical clutch release wouldn’t hold up to the custom-built American Powertrain Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission. It was replaced with an American Powertrain Hydramax hydraulic throwout bearing kit. Using an Engine Power Battlestar 1963 Ford Galaxie completer combo, the factory fuel tank was swapped out for a Summit Racing™ 15 gallon aluminum fuel cell, and the factory steering wheel was axed for a nice Flaming River leather-wrapped tiller.
